True Companies

455 N. Poplar
P.O. Drawer 2360
Casper, WY 82602

The True Companies had their beginning in 1948 when H.A. ‘Dave’ True, Jr. moved from Cody to Casper as manager and part owner of the one-rig Reserve Drilling Company.

The company, after nearly going under in the brutal 1949 blizzards, grew to a five rotary drilling rig operation by 1951. In that year True, together with Douglas S. Brown, bought out the other interest owners of Reserve Drilling and formed a partnership known as True and Brown Drilling Contractors.

In 1953, the two formed another partnership, True and Brown Oil Producers. The following year, True purchased Brown’s interests and, in partnership with his wife Jean, changed the names to True Drilling Company and True Oil Company. Since 1954 several other firms have been organized by the True family, many connected with the petroleum industry and all based in Casper.

Bill Barrett Corporation

1099 18th Street
Suite 2300
Denver, Co 80202

Since its inception in March 2002, Bill Barrett Corporation has assembled a portfolio of development and exploratory properties in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States.

We began active natural gas and oil operations in March 2002 with the acquisition of properties in the Wind River Basin. Initially, we increased our activity level and the number of properties that we operate by acquiring a large inventory of undeveloped leasehold interests through federal and state sales as well as private purchases and trades. We also acquired producing properties that had large undeveloped acreage positions associated with them. For example, in 2002, we completed two additional acquisitions that included properties in the Uinta, Wind River, Powder River and Williston Basins; in early 2003, we completed an acquisition of largely undeveloped coalbed methane properties located in the Powder River Basin; in September 2004, we acquired interests in properties in the Piceance Basin in and around the Gibson Gulch field; and in May 2006, we added to our coalbed methane position in the Powder River Basin. In June 2007, we sold our Williston Basin properties. In June 2009, we acquired Cottonwood Gulch, an undeveloped property in the Piceance Basin.
